Kire Lazarov - World Handball Champion




A 28-year-old Kiril Lazarov, the best handballer of Macedonian national team, since today with 92 achieved goals in the World Championship in Croatia is the top scorer in the history of the World Championships. He broke the 14 year old record set by the famous Korean Kyung-Shin Yoon by the total number of goals in one World Championship. The Korean in 1995 at the World Championship in Iceland scored 86 goals in 9 games, while Lazarov in the World Championship in Croatia, also in 9 matches managed to score a total of 92 goals.

Kiril had 77 goals on the eve of yesterday's game, which was played by Macedonia in Zagreb Arena against South Korea for the 11th place, and charged the Korean net 15 times today, what was more than enough for braking the record.

Kiril Lazarov (Macedonian: Кирил Лазаров) (born 10 May 1980 in Veles, Republic of Macedonia) is a Macedonian handball player, who currently plays for RK Zagreb. He was top scorer of the EHF Champions League two times with KC Veszprém and RK Zagreb and is the captain of the Republic of Macedonia national team.

On 01/29/2009 he broke the 14 years old record for the number of goals scored in one World Championship, and set a new of 92 goals.
He and Goran Pandev, are the biggest Macedonian sport stars.
